A year ago my nephew Thomas was lucky enough to receive one of the National Fishing week Whips. Since then he's become quite accomplished and at just 5 years of age, he has an impressive species list including, roach, perch, bream, tench and crucian carp all caught on his whip. (Thanks NFW it's fantastic!)

However since being quite small and receiving a book about a pair of frogs an...

England Youth Rivers Team -

In the Spring I took my son Lionel to Tregaron for the Rivers Festival, a combined annual event organised by the Welsh and English teams. This resulted in Lionel being invited to to the Captains Weekend on the river Wharfe in Yorkshire. This week was hoped to be better than the last, and, yes the sun did shine on my little event at Dixons Gap on the Aylesbury Arm of the grand Union Canal. This is a good stretch for juniors to use as the canal isn’t too wide and there is a large amount of small fish to be caught. Having said that, many of the larger fish did move in on the influx of loose fed pinkie and need I say more, tw...
